  • “I’m in seventh grade at Whitney now, and I love it! There are so many interesting and challenging classes. I’m really glad I took Oxford Prep with ACE because it helped me get in. It also made it easier to enjoy my new classes and feel confident about them.”

    —Katelyn (Accepted 2025)

  • “I took Oxford Prep at ACE 6 years ago, and now that I’m graduated, I’m so glad I learned the writing fundamentals and math skills there, especially with Mrs. Kiwas. Oxford moves fast and can be really challenging, so having that foundation made me feel confident and prepared to handle everything.”

    —Eric (Accepted 2019)

  • “Even though I had already decided to go to Lexington, Oxford Prep made me feel ready for my honors classes. Junior high feels really new and kind of scary, but I think I'm ready for the hardest classes.”

    —Keziah (Class of 2026)

WRITING

  • Teaches how to write all four major essay types with clarity, confidence, and focus.

  • Practices quick-timed essay writing with rich, descriptive writing and vocabulary.

  • Reviews proper grammar and encourages students to develop an independent, unique voice.

Our Oxford writing class is one of our most in-demand classes!

We teach students how to confidently tackle all four major essay types— Persuasive, Narrative, Informative, and Descriptive— no matter the prompt they are given.

We encourage our students to carefully check grammar, use powerful new vocabulary words, and write confidently with their own unique voice.

Writing skills developed in our Oxford/Whitney Writing Class become lifelong tools, helping students excel as writers into their Junior / High School & College careers. “Writing is a ‘threshold skill’ for hiring and promotion—over 80% of employers say strong writing is essential (National Commission on Writing).”

MATH

  • Rigorous four month program covering all Oxford/Whitney Math concepts and beyond.

  • Skills carry forward into Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Honors tracks.

  • Weekly homework and testing to ensure full mastery.

We guarantee a deep understanding of the foundations of the Math Oxford/Whitney Exam and Honors level Math.

We cover every 6th and 7th grade Common Core Math Standard while ensuring that our students get plenty of practice and support along the way.

The strong foundation our Oxford/Whitney Prep students gain doesn’t stop at the test — it carries them into Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Statistics. “Algebra readiness—built on elementary math foundations—is one of the strongest predictors of high school graduation and college success (U.S. Department of Education).”

READING COMP.

  • Advanced Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension practice.

  • Logical and fast-paced reading + test-taking strategies.

  • Creates a passion, appreciation, and understanding of literature and poetry.

In combination with our writing class, we equip students with the skills to read faster, think logically, and understand complex passages at a high level for the Oxford/Whitney test.

Alongside test-taking strategies, we strengthen vocabulary and grammar in every lesson so that all of our students feel confident in being able to read at a higher-level.

We want our students to fall in love with the art and technique behind reading like an intelligent, educated scholar. Reading is foundational to all learning—without strong reading skills, students cannot fully access knowledge across subjects (NAEP – Nation’s Report Card).”
